The doctors refer you to a help line which you have to register for, which in 4 years I have still yet to get a call back as well as prescribing you with tablets which does help but in my experience doesn't completely resolve the issue

I also registered with Mind, yet to hear back from them as well.

Mental Health is such a huge spectrum, it's a pretty simple process to fix a broken ankle or arm etc, every single persons mental health is different and hospitals do not have the facilities to help, yet. Again, all in my experience.

"there isn't enough facilities or processes that allow people to get to speak to the right people"

the starting point is the doctor or the hospital, this is the same for both and this will help you on the right track regardless.

Re: 12 YO killed and five other children injured
People will always speak to others to find out what had worked for them, for example me personally meditation has helped me MASSIVELY, the issue particularly around mental health is there isn't enough facilities or processes that allow people to get to speak to the right people unlike physical issues like an ankle as you mentioned, hence why some may sound authoritative without meaning to but just explaining what had helped them.

That sounds like advice to me...

it could be argued that these people trying to give advise COULD be dangerous

Correct. Never give advice. Relay personal experience, and up to the receiver if they find it relatable.

Re: 12 YO killed and five other children injured
of course they are completely different ailments but the process is exactly the same. You get diagnosed and you get treated specific to that diagnosis. I know about my therapy and rehab in the same way a MH patient knows about their therapy and rehab.

Neither however would be any authority at all on anything other than their own case. Infact it could be argued that these people trying to give advise COULD be dangerous as what applies to them and their experience were for them and may not be at all what is needed for someone else.

Of course this does not mean that Im saying people should not support and encourage eachother etc.

Re: 12 YO killed and five other children injured
Also the authority side of it personally for me was when discussing with those who haven't experienced it, when those people didn't get or understand certain aspects of MH but felt they knew better.

Re: 12 YO killed and five other children injured
SoJ, Mental Health and physical health are completely different, however you would be able to explain to me what processes the doctors etc went through to fix you, you can then go onto explain how you got better through the physio therapy and explain what works for you. Which is what I have done with my MH and others.

I think it's a case for people assuming those who have struggled seem to think they are authoritative, speaking personally I did initially come across a bit preachy on here and a bit of a cunt about it which wasn't my intention.

Re: 12 YO killed and five other children injured
Mental health is definitely a reason and its definitely a problem.

I think what irks people (rightly or wrongly) is people who have had MH issues then being overbearing with it and thinking this makes them an authority on the issue.

Ive recently broke my ankle, im not an expert on Orthopaedics. A cancer survivor is not an oncologist. Experience of these issue just makes you more versed in your own specific issue, not an authority on the issue at large.

Therefore having a MH episode, short term or continuing does not mean you are any more of an authority or voice, or necessarily have any greater understanding of the overall societal issue.

I agree people use MH as an excuse, however to suggest MH is a load of bollocks is ignorance at it's finest.

Mental health as an excuse can fuck right off, as can anyone in here moaning on about it, this bloke has killed a innocent 12 year old who was doing nothing more than leaving school. I'm sick to death of people who moan on about mental health it's a load of bollocks. Just fucking deal with it for god's sake. Let's hope once whatever is inevitable short sentence is over that he meets a horrible and painful slow death as he doesn't deserve anything less.

You can fuck off with that crass comment too Trundle you cunt.

Trunds, there was a woman doing this on Sunday.

Reckon she was doing the off from Griffins house, after she woke up and saw what an ugly piece of shit he was so she legged it.
